Virtually in Oregon
When I’m not working, you can find me:
Embracing either my nerdy side or crafty side
(or both at the same time, whenever possible).
Caring for my pets.
Or admiring tortoises.
P.S. I like tortoises because they are animals that remind me daily that patience, steadfastness, and moving slow is often the fastest way to get where we want to go.
Hey, I’m Shannon Aaron, MSW, LCSW (She/Her)
My practice is deeply rooted in trauma-informed care, client autonomy, and compassion. I specialize in working with individuals navigating PTSD, Complex PTSD (CPTSD), neurodivergence (including autism), as well as co-occurring anxiety and depression.
I consider you to be the expert on your own life, so my approach is client-centered and integrative. I merge scientific knowledge with a depth of experience in multiple therapy modalities to help you meet your goals. Instead of relying on temporary fixes, I combine psychoeducation, practical skills, and deep self-exploration to foster sustainable growth aligned with your life and personal values.
Why We Might Be a Good Fit
Finding the right therapist matters. Therapy works best when you feel understood, respected, and able to show up as your full self. Here are a few things clients can expect in our work together:
Space for complexity
I work with clients navigating PTSD, complex trauma, neurodivergence, including autism and ADHD, and the many overlapping experiences that can come with them. I understand that people are complex, and I do not believe in one-size-fits-all therapy.
No-masks-required acceptance
You do not have to hide, mask, or perform in our sessions. My goal is to create a space where you can be met with acceptance, curiosity, and respect. You are always in the driver’s seat of your own healing.
Grounded, evidence-informed care
I draw from evidence-based approaches while staying humble about the limits of textbook definitions. Your lived experience matters, and I will work with you as a whole person, not a diagnosis or checklist.
Real human connection
I bring warmth, authenticity, and my own grounded, nerdy self into the therapy room. I am not here to be a blank clinical wall. I am here to walk alongside you with care, honesty, and respect.
Consent and transparency
I believe therapy should feel collaborative, not mysterious. I will explain the approaches I use, why we might try a certain exercise, and how it connects to your goals. You are always welcome to ask questions, share feedback, slow down, or say no.
